Yes, it's been a long time since I've been here. We were in Port Harcourt, Nigeria until December 2006, we went on Christmas Holiday back to Houston and the girls and I were never able to go back. A car bomg was set off just outside our Residential Area and all were evacuated. My husband was allowed back (as the employee) in February 2007, but family wasn't allowed back. He has since gotten another job in Lagos, Nigeria and we have joined him as of December 29th. We were living in the Eko Hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos and have recently moved to our flat on Ikoyi. The girls are going to the American International School of Lagos and love it. They have friends here from Port Harcourt and they are also living in the same apartment building along with classmates and others from school. So needless to say they are very happy here and having the time of their life.
Now, on to knitting.....I have yarn here from when we moved to Nigeria but hadn't arrived before we left in December 2006, so now that it's reached me finally I don't have my needles as they are on the Air Frieght that left Houston March 17th and will take at least 3 weeks to get past customs and to us. I'm getting really anxious to start knitting again, the yarn that's here was for Christmas presents from 2006, I was going to knit my whole family (parents, siblings, nephews, nieces, in-laws) Fiber Trends Felted Clogs. I guess they'll be receiving them this Christmas!!
I was able to knit a few things before I left Nigeria in 2006, cabled purses for my daughters, one Cranberry Red and one Pink.
Here are pics I took of the pink purse after I added the lining with help from my mother in law. I'm not a sewer so she explained and helped with the lining.
